ADDITIONAL INFO

Castroville Nip and Tuck is a non profit organization which has tried to address the problem of over population of cats & dogs in the Castroville area.  The small organization (5 board members) has provided the low cost spay and neuter program for over  15years.  The organization first raised their money by sponsoring the City Wide Yard Sale which is held twice a year (1st Saturday of June and November).     The monies collected from residents who sign up to be on the city wide map ( donated by Castroville State Bank) & donated items sold the day of the sale at the Barnyard Peddler had been one of their main fundraisers. Castroville Nip & Tuck turned the CWYS over to the City and now the FCAC (Friends of Castroville Animal Control) run the CWYS . Due to the closing of the FCAC - Castroville Nip & Tuck is again sponsoring the CWYS. They do all the advertising to promote the sale and appreciate those who sign up. All monies raised by the $5 sign up fee  goes to CAPS & CASTROVILLE NIP & TUCK.  Castroville Nip & Tuck also sponsors a Silent Auction on the last Thursday in April with again - all proceeds benefiting the Spay & Neuter program and CAPS

Gary Carter (former owner of Castroville Café )was a great supporter of our Silent Auction.  Through his generosity the program was able to get off the ground and has been our main fundraiser ever since. He not only provided the location , but all the refreshments and staff for the occasion.

Since receiving grant funds we've been able to extend the spay & neuter program to all of Medina County residents who qualify. Realizing “it's a drop in the bucket” - still the effort is being made.  Their main concern has been on educating the public on the value of getting your “pet fixed”.  It's not only a question of safety for your pet, but it's health - not to mention the fact that 1000's of strays or dumped animals will not have be euthanized.  So many people are under the delusion they “should first have a litter “ or it will take away the “macho-ness of the male.  Having your pet spayed or neutered helps to keep them from roaming, getting into fights, being less aggressive, and basically more affectionate.  They do not automatically put on weight or become unresponsive and less affectionate.  There are literally hundreds of animals in shelters that need good homes now before it's too late.  If you want puppies or kittens just go to one of the numerous shelters or ask your local Veterinarian for they have unwanted puppies or kittens dumped on them all the time.

So sign up today and be a “Responsible Pet Owner”, by having your pet spayed or neutered.

The $50 cost to have your pet spayed or neutered is less than a carton of cigarettes.
